STF and PGR to hold public hearing to discuss reduction of police lethality in Rio de Janeiro

Justice Edson Fachin, of the Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) and the Public Prosecutor, Augusto Aras, decided on Friday (11) to hold public hearings to collect information that will support the State of Rio de Janeiro in the elaboration of its plan to reduce police lethality. The meetings will also aim to help the National Council of the Prosecutor's Office (CNMP) to define procedures for the inspection of police action and state prosecutors' offices.

The hearings will be held in the ambit of the Claim of Non-compliance with Fundamental Precept (ADPF) 635, reported by Minister Fachin.
