Ceremony and
symposium celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Constitutional Court of Hungary

The President of the
Supreme Court, Minister Gilmar Mendes, in response to the invitation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Hungary, made ​​a visit to Budapest on November 23th and 24th to participate in a ceremony and symposium celebrating the 20th anniversary of that Court. The official ceremony took place on November 23th in the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and was inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Hungary, Mr. László Sólyom. The theme of the symposium was "Politics and law in constitutional justice, the political doctrine of judicial policy". On the occasion, the President of the STF presented a lecture entitled "Policy and Law in Constitutional Adjudication". Several authorities attended the event, including the Presidents of Constitutional Courts of Austria, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Russian Federation, Hungary, Bulgaria and Belgium.

On the same day, by occasion of his passage through the city, the Minister of the STF lectured at the Law School of the University Károli Gáspár on the theme: "Constitutional Jurisdiction in Brazil: the Problem of Unconstitutional Legislative Omission."
