Following the cooperation agreement signed by the constitutional courts of  BRICS countries, a delegation of Chinese judges visited last Friday (9 / 9) the Justice Tribunal of the State of Sao Paulo. Chinese judges were interested in knowing the Tribunal’s system of conciliation and were greeted by its President Judge José Roberto Bedran. The meeting was organized by the Advisory for International Affairs of the Federal Supreme Court of Brazil (STF).

Led by the President of Beijing Second Intermediate People’s Court, Zhu Jiang; the Chinese delegation included the President of Chaoyang District People’s Court of Beijing, Li Ruixiang; the President of Pinggu District People’s Court of Beijing, Zhao Jun; a senior Judge of Beijing High People’s Court, Shao Mingyan; a senior Judge of Beijing High People’s Court, Zheng Yuying and a Judge of Beijing Second Intermediate People’s Court, Yang Shijun.

During the meeting, discussions were held on topics such as the legal system and structure of the Judiciary in both countries. The delegation of Chinese judges also visited the premises of the Palace of Justice, and moved on to the Joao Mendes Building, right across the street, to visit the Conciliation Court on Family Law, where they were greeted by members of the Permanent Nucleus for Consensual Methods of Conflict Resolution.

Under the auspices of further development of relations between the BRICS countries, the Federal Supreme Court of Brazil (STF) will organize, in October, a visit by a delegation of Chinese women judges to Brasilia and Sao Paulo.
