Young Sudanese lawyers visit STF

Justice Luiz Fux met, this Wednesday (19), with a delegation of Sudanese lawyers interested in learning about the functioning of the Brazilian Judiciary. They participate in a Professional Internship Program for Young Lawyers, originated from the partnership between the Federal Council of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) and the corresponding organ in Sudan, supported by the Brazilian Agency for Cooperation.

The Sudanese delegation was composed of Dr. Hussein Jeaballah Ahmed; Dra. Manal Kamal Osman Ibrahim; Dr. Mohamed Abdeen Awadelkareem Suliman; Dra. Marwa Taha Saeed e do Dr. Muhanad Ahmed Omer El Mufti. Dr. Cesar Britto, from the International Comission of the OAB was also present.

Justice Fux mentioned some STF’s major decisions; He also spoke of the secularism in the Brazilian state; the transparency of the deliberative processes, specially the role played by TV Justiça channel and its live transmissions of the plenary sessions; the decisions of the Supreme Federal Court regarding the protection of minorities; the “Clean Record Law”; and the role of the Brazilian Supreme Court as the guardian of the constitution and also its openness to society, encompassing the making of public hearings.

The Sudanese lawyers expressed great admiration by the development of Brazilian Judiciary and its proximity to the citizens.
