Chief Justice Joaquim Barbosa receives Ambassador of Chile

On today’s afternoon (March 11), the Chief Justice of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), Joaquim Barbosa, received a courtesy visit of the Ambassador of Chile in Brazil, Fernando Schmidt. "It is important to strengthen ties between the two countries’ judicial branches," said the Ambassador.

According to Schmidt, who took office in January, the meeting is part of the activities of the Embassy of Chile in Brazil. "It is our task not only to strengthen relations with the Executive branch, but also with the Judiciary and the Legislative," he said. The Ambassador, who was accompanied in the visit by the Chilean diplomat Pedro González, said that there were visits scheduled with ministers, businessmen, members of the Legislative and the Foreign Ministry.

The Ambassador also invited the Chief Justice Joaquim Barbosa to visit Chile, to what Joaquim Barbosa replied he was delighted with the invitation and could plan to visit the Ambassador’s country by the month of May.
