Foreign magistrates in exchange on the Supreme Court give a lecture at the University of Brasilia

The University of Brasília’s Law School was the place chosen for a meeting between magistrates who participate in the STF´s exchange program, law students and teachers from the University of Brasilia. Under the title "Constitutional Jurisdiction in Latin America: discussion with Judges of the Plurinational Constitutional Court of Bolivia and members of the Judiciary of Chile", the lecture has exposed issues related to the Judiciary of members and associated countries of the Mercosur.

Among the topics discussed, they talked about the decolonization of Bolivia and the new concept of the Plurinational State of that Country, the recent changes in the criminal law of Chile, as a systematic procedure which imposes deadlines for the completion of criminal investigations, and the peculiarities of the judicial review in Uruguay.

The exchange program Joaquim Nabuco receives magistrates and employees of the Judiciary from members and associated countries of MERCOSUR. The program is organized to take place at every six months by the Advisory for International Affairs of the Brazilian Supreme Court. The idea of the lecture held on Tuesday was to further integrate the academic field and the STF. The foreign professionals also had the opportunity to expose their perception about the Judiciary of Brazil.
