Monday, September 30, 2013

The Deputy Chief Justicr of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), Ricardo Lewandowski, received the president of the Republic of Paraguay, Horácio Cartes, this Monday (30) at the Court.

At the meeting, STF’s Deputy Chief Justice demonstrated expectation that the visit to the Court creates approximation and collaboration between the Paraguayan and Brazilian judiciary. “The language of commerce is the language of law, and, therefore, the exchange of professionals, of law operators, whether of judges, of attorneys or of the Public Ministry, will be very welcome, and will collaborate to expand e deepen the dialogue,” minster Lewandowski stated.

Lewandowski highlighted also that Brazil may have something to contribute, but also has much to learn with Paraguay, where good experiences with the use of mediation are found. “Brazil is very ahead in mediation, in conflict resolution which is not exclusively conducted through the judiciary, mainly in the business world. Mediation, conciliation and arbitration are alternative methods of dispute settlement which we also want to develop more intensely to relieve our Judiciary,” he affirmed.

President Horácio Cartes highlighted the importance of straightening the ties with Brazil, considering the history and perspectives of both countries’ joint activity. “Brazil is not one more country, like the construction of the world’s largest dam,” Cartes affirmed.
