STF Chief Justice visits the United Kingdom Supreme Court


On the last day of his official trip to England, the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court's (STF) Chief Justice, Justice Ricardo Lewandowski, participated on Tuesday 24th of a business lunch with Justices of the United Kingdom Supreme Court. Followed by that, he was received at a private hearing with the president of the Court, Lord Neuberger of Abbotsbury.

During the meeting, common challenges faced by the Judiciary of both countries were discussed. The President Lord Neuberger highlighted that the United Kingdom Supreme Court was recently created by the Constitutional Reform Act of 2005, and launched on 2009, with the goal of granting more independence between the Judicial and the Legislative Branches of the country.

On today´s afternoon, Chief Justice Lewandowski had a meeting with the British ambassador in Brazil, Alex Eliss, and also lectured on Global Law Summit, on the panel named “Sanctions and the Rule of Law".
