Site of the 4th Meeting of Supreme Courts of Mercosur will be released this Wednesday

The website of the 4th Mercosur Supreme Courts Meeting (www.stf.gov.br/encontro4) will be available soon for Internet consultations, starting this Wednesday (1st). The electronic page provides information about the event, scheduled for November 23 and 24, such as the schedule, the participating Cortes, news, useful information and tourist attractions of Brasilia, venue of the event.

Located in the left corner of the site, the menu shows all the options for accessing the event content. In the first one, there is a "presentation" of the program, made by the president of the Supreme Court (STF) and the National Justice Council (CNJ), Justice Ellen Gracie.

In her presentation, Justice Ellen Gracie points out that the meeting "continues the meetings of the Permanent Forum of Supreme Courts of Mercosur, institutionalized with the Charter of Brasilia signed in November 2004." "Among the objectives of the Forum, we highlight the incentive to the participation of the national Judiciary powers in the institutional improvement of the bloc", she says, when assessing that "this action is important for the dynamics of the integration process, as well as for strengthening of dispute settlement mechanisms in the Southern Common Market. "

The president of the STF states that the fourth edition of the event will address the following topics: discussions on the socio-labor agenda, the role of the newly created Mercosur Parliament in the incorporation and effectiveness of the norms of the region, legal certainty in integration and to the discussions on the proposal for regulating the processing of requests for advisory opinions formulated by the Higher Courts of the States Parties. In this last point, the coordination prepared the draft to be debated at the event.

Justice Ellen Gracie points out that at this year's meeting, there will be an emphasis on labor relations within Mercosur. For this reason, the Labor ministers of member countries and the entity that coordinates the Southern Cone trade unions will debate the future of the labor agenda during the event.

Then comes the full schedule of the two day event that includes the opening session at the Itamaraty Palace on November 23 and two conferences and three panels at the STF on the 24th.
