STF's electronic summons system begins to work

Tuesday, February 14, 2017

The Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) electronic summons system, intended to entities of the Public Administration, is already in operation for electronic civil lawsuits. The registration of these entities, the Public Prosecutor's Office, the Public Defender's Office and Public Attorneys was determined by means of public notice on the Electronic Judicial Gazette (DJE) on 18 November 2016, based on articles 180, 183, 186, 246, 270 and 272 of the Code of Civil Procedure (Law 13105/2015).

The summons of entities not registered, according to article 272 of the Code of Civil Procedure, will be carried out by public notifications on the Electronic Judicial Gazette.

Public entities that have not yet registered should forward a list of administrators in the electronic summons system and of the representatives with legal prerogative of notice to be bound to the lawsuits, through official letter, informing the following data: e-mail of each administrator in the summons system and of each representative with legal prerogative of notice; institutional e-mail and legal person registration number of the respective entity; individual registration number or lawyer's registration number of the administrator in the electronic summons system and of each representative with legal prerogative of notice.
