Chief Justice of STF announces implementation of the National Forum of Judiciary and Press Freedom

The Chief Justice of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and presidente of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), Carmen Lúcia, announced on Wednesday (3) the implementation of the executive commission of the National Forum of Judiciary Power and Freedom of the Press, within the scope of CNJ. According to the justice, the objective is to gather information on judicial actions that deals with freedom of the press, data on the speed of proceedings and discuss solutions for the free exercise of freedom of expression.

The announcement was made during a lecture at the 9th Forum of Press Freedom, promoted by the Portal and Revista Imprensa, in the OAB-DF auditorium. The commission was created in 2014, by the initiative of the justice Joaquim Barbosa (retired), then president of the STF and CNJ. The ordinance signed by the justice on Wednesday (3), which appoints the members of the commission, will be published in the Judicial Gazette tomorrow. In addition to representatives of the Judiciary, the commission has the participation of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), the National Association of Newspapers (ANJ) and the Brazilian Association of Radio and Television Broadcasters (Abert)
