Chief Justices and Justices of Constitutional Courts of Latin America meet at STF this week

The Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) hosts, from June 1 to 3, the XXIII Meeting of Presidents and Judges of Constitutional Courts of Latin America. The meeting aims to engender a trustworthy dialogue between judges, members of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) and international experts on issues of constitutional law and fundamental rights in Latin America. The event is promoted annually by the Rule of Law Program for Latin America of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in collaboration with the Judiciary Power of the host country, which this year will be Brazil.

Confirmed attendance the presidents of the constitutional courts of Bolívia, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Brazil, as well the president of the IACHR and magistrates from Chile, Costa Rica, Honduras and Uruguay.

The opening of the meeting, part of the program that will be open to the press, will take place at 10:30 am in the Second Panel Chamber of the STF, with an inaugural conference delivered by the judge of the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany, Sibylle Kessal-Wulf.

Throughout the program, panels closed to the public will discuss several aspects of the three thematic axes chosen for the 23rd edition of the event: Slave labor nowadays, judicial ethics and good practices in judicial administration, the role of constitutional courts in the fight against corruption and fundamental rights, constitution and economy.
