Deputies request the Supreme Court that the Chamber of Commons vote on case against Temer and not CCJC's legal opinion

A group of federal Deputies, among them bench leaders, filed a writ of mandamus (MS 35059) in the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) requesting the grant of an injunction to determine that the Chamber’s Speaker, Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ), include the speech of the Prosecutor General, Rodrigo Janot, in the session that analyzes the admissibility of the case presented by the Federal Prosecution Service against the President of the Republic, Michel Temer, of passive bribery. It also requests that the case presented by the Prosecutor General be voted on and not the legal opinion approved by the Committee on Constitution, Justice and Citizenship (CCJC).

Rodrigo Janot is the author of the case against the President of the Republic that gave rise to Investigation 4517, sent by the Supreme Court’s Chief , Justice Cármen Lúcia, to the Chamber of Deputies on June 29 at the request of the case’s rapporteur, Justice Edson Fachin. The arrest warrant, filed in the Court during a deliberative session, is signed by the leaders of PSOL's bench, Deputy Glauber Braga (RJ) and PT's bench, Carlos Zarattini (SP), in addition to Alessandro Molon (Rede-RJ), Alice Portugal (PCdoB-BA) and Júlio Delgado (PSB-MG).
