Supreme Court approves triple list for substitute in jurist's bench for the Superior Electoral Court

The Plenary of the  Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) approved on Thursday (3) the triple list of candidates for substitute Judge of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) in one of the chairs reserved for the category of lawyers. The list will be forwarded to the President of the Republic, Michel Temer, who will choose one of the names. The chosen candidate will replace Justice Admar Gonzaga Neto, then a substitute member of the Court, who was sworn in as effective Justice on April 27.

The approved list is made up of attorneys-in-law Sérgio Silveira Banhos, Carlos Bastide Horbach and Marilda de Paula Silveira. All got 10 votes.

According to the Federal Constitution, the TSE is composed of at least seven Justices, three from the STF, two from the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and two jurists, appointed by the President of the Republic among lawyers of outstanding legal knowledge and moral appropriateness, from the triple list specified by the STF.
