Justice Cármen Lúcia opens Judicial National Assembly

Monday, November 20, 2017

On Monday (20), the Chief Justice of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) and the National Council of Justice (CNJ), Justice Cármen Lúcia, attended the opening of the XI Judicial National Assembly in Brasilia, which aims to vote on the strategic goals of "Justice in 2018". During the ceremony, the Justice highlighted the high rate of compliance with the goals set, due to the formulation of goals with the effective participation of magistrates from various instances that take into consideration citizens' demands. "Policies for the Judiciary are not drawn from offices in Brasilia, but from the performance of judges spread throughout the country's judicial districts," he said.

The Chief Justice said that for five months an online platform for public discussion on the new goals was opened in the CNJ website. She noted that the receipt of proposals by digital means increased the possibility of participation of judges, even those sent to the farthest districts. "In the end, we will reach goals that the judges and the courts understand to be necessary at this time," she said.
