The Chief Justice of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), Justice Carmen Lúcia, granted an injunction to suspend the registration of the State of Santa Catarina in the Federal Registration of Defaulters (Cauc/Siafi/Cadin) due to the alleged noncompliance in 2017 of the constitutional rule regarding the the application of the minimum percentage (25%) of the revenue resulting from taxes on education. The decision of the Justice was taken in the Original Civil Action (ACO) 3131, filed by the State of Santa Catarina.

In the lawsuit, the State alleges that Brazil improperly registered it in the Registration of Defaulters because of a misunderstanding in the calculation base of the revenues and amounts invested in the areas and services of education.
