Justice Dias Toffoli asks for debureaucratization with an efficient, transparent and responsible State

The head of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) and the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), Chief Justice Dias Toffoli, argued on Thursday (29/11) the de-bureaucratization of public services in the name of an efficient, transparent and responsible State. "The State needs to interact with the citizen in a direct and transparent way," said the Justice at the opening of the seminar Debureaucratization of the Judiciary, promoted by the Council at the headquarters of the Superior Labor Court (TST) in Brasilia.

According to the Chief Justice, although necessary, the bureaucracy ends up harming the country by moving away from investments. A cultural change that simplifies public administration procedures will bring back the confidence and legal certainty that investors depend on to bet on the Brazilian economy. "The country needs to grow again, create jobs and restore investor confidence, which undoubtedly depends on a bureaucracy, including judicial bureaucracy, restricted to what is necessary and that effectively works", said Dias Toffoli.
