Chief Justice of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) presents its first balance of management

The Chief Justice of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), Justice Dias Toffoli, presented the first balance of his administration, which has begun in September of this year, to journalists of the press committee of the Court. The document highlights both the procedural movement and the relationship of the Court with the society and with other branches of the Republic. In relation to the jurisdictional provision, the balance sheet highlights measures aimed to reinforce the values of predictability, efficiency, speed, legal certainty and rationalization of procedures.

Procedures

The balance shows that the STF currently has 38.5 thousand processes in its acquis. The majority (39.47%) are extraordinary appeals with grievances. In the second place are extraordinary appeals (19.28%) and, thirdly, habeas corpus (11.24%). In the last three months, the Plenary held 24 ordinary and extraordinary meetings and judged 168 cases in person - an average of seven a day. In the Virtual Plenary, 813 cases were tried in 12 sessions.
