The Brazilian Federal Supreme Court's (STF) Library receives dossier commemorating the 800 years of the University of Salamanca

On the afternoon of this last Tuesday (11), the Justice Victor Nunes Leal Library, of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), received the visit of Professor Ricardo Munoz Singi for the delivery of the Memorial Dossier of the VIII Centenary of the University of Salamanca, celebrated in 2018. The celebration is an event of international character that received the qualification of Act of State by the Government of Spain. The work is a summary of the Universaty's 800 years, which, next to the Universities of Oxford, Paris and Bologna, is one of the oldest four in the world.

The Uniersty's Ambassador in Brazil, Munoz cites a passage from the document that highlights the passage of important historical figures by the institution, such as the novelist Miguel de Cervantes, the Italian navigator Christopher Columbus and the tenor Plácido Domingo, who received the title of Doctor Honoris Causa. "It was in a university room that Columbus set the course with the purpose of discovering the Indies and came to America," he said.

The Commemorative Dossier, according to the professor, is being delivered to the main Brazilian libraries. "It is an honor to bring this work to further brighten this very rich library, with so many important works for the history of our country," he said. The university counts with the position of ambassador in 17 strategic countries in the world, with the function of establishing a connection between these nations and mediating the exchanges.
