Author of the best-selling trilogy 1808, 1822 and 1889, journalist and historian Laurentino Gomes gave the talk "The construction of Brazil from Independence to the Republic", this Friday morning (14), in the First Chamber's Sessions Room of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF). The exhibition is part of the program "Update Time", held since 2015 by the Justice Edson Fachin's Office.
In the author's evaluation, it is necessary to defend democracy with all the challenges it imposes, such as the need to make choices, to have patience to achieve the desired results, to persevere, pointing out that the Brazilian State is a reflection of its society. "The main challenge of the Republic is to qualify the Brazilian society, through education, culture, reading, so that this society is able to constitute a better state," he said, urging that let there be perseverance, patience and hope in the construction of the Brazilian identity.
