Justice Edson Fachin holds lecture in a seminar on the systematization of electoral norms

The Brazilian Federal Supreme Court's (STF) Justice Edson Fachin, will present the lecture "Electoral Justice, Corruption and Democracy" at the opening session of the Seminar on Systematization of Electoral Rules at the Regional Electoral Tribunal of Paraná (TRE-PR) on the 8th at 10:30. The event seeks to contribute to the implementation of electoral resolutions in the forthcoming elections through harmonization and predictability of precedents and regulations.

On that occasion, the Justice, who is also the seminar's coordinator, will present a retrospective on the performance of the Electoral Justice since the 1988 Constitution, regarding the legitimacy and normality of free elections. His talk will also deal with constitutionalism, the dialogue and the limits of the punitive system for the due respect to democracy.

The Justice will also discuss the role of party pluralism in Brazilian public life and the functions of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), as well as the Supreme Court, as the recipient of the main issues that emerged regarding law, politics and fiscal federalism in the last decades.
