Plenary pays tribute to Raquel Dodge in her last session as head of the Public Prosecutor's Office

The Chief Justice of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), Dias Toffoli, greeted, on behalf of the Court, the Attorney General, Raquel Dodge, who participates, on Thursday (12), in the last plenary session before the end of her term, which ends on the 17th. The Chief Justice stressed out the key role of the Public Prosecution Service in strengthening the Democratic Rule of Law and stated that, in these two years, Dodge held the position with "mastery and firmness, honoring an institution of unique grandeur and relevance in the Federative Republic of Brazil."

Democratic values

Dias Toffoli pointed out that the Public Prosecutor is a guardian of the legal and constitutional order and a strong defender of people's freedoms and rights, especially unavailable social and individual rights, and that Dodge, the first woman to hold the position, headed the institution firmly defending these values. "Without a strong and independent prosecution service defending people's rights and freedoms and fighting corruption, the democratic and republican values espoused in the 1988 Constitution would be permanently threatened," the Chief Justice said.
