Brazilian Federal Supreme Court's (STF) Chief Justice suspends nomination of candidates for non-existent positions in Amazonas

The Chief justice of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), Justice Dias Toffoli, granted the request of the State of Amazonas and suspended the effects of the decision of the State Court of Justice (TJ-AM) that determined the permanence of more than 800 candidates approved in public tender in training course for the Subcommand of Emergency Assistance and Rescue (Subpar), linked to the Fire Department.

The decision was made in the Security Suspension (SS) 5280, in which the State of Amazonas questioned the determination of the State Court, claiming that the Subpar will no longer be implemented. This is because the law that instituted Subpar was declared unconstitutional by the TJ-AM, so the obligation to hire those approved would entail serious risk of injury to the public order, since the organizational structure for the positions no longer exists, as well as the positions themselves.
