Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) holds on Monday (9) public hearing on the possibility of candidatures without party affiliation


On Monday (9), starting at 9 a.m., a public hearing will be held at the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) to discuss the feasibility of independent candidacies (without party affiliation) in elections. The hearing was convened by Justice Luis Roberto Barroso, rapporteur of the Extraordinary Appeal (RE) 1238853, with recognized general repercussion, which discusses the issue.

In addition to the entities and individuals previously invited, registrations of all those interested in contributing to the debate were admitted. Representatives of political parties, social movements, institutes linked to Law, the Brazilian Bar Association, the Federal Senate, the House of Representatives, the Attorney General's Office, as well as academics and congressmen will have 10 to 15 minutes for the manifestation, wich
can be divided at the discretion of the participants.
