Chief Justice Dias Toffoli participates in a campaign for the preservation of Brasília and restoration of the Praça dos Três Poderes (Three Powers Square)

"It is a responsibility of the Public Power, with the collaboration of the community, to promote and protect the Brazilian cultural heritage. The adequate fulfillment of this duty presupposes the preventive conservation of historic buildings and sites". The statement was made by the Chief Justice of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF), Justice Dias Toffoli, during the launch of the campaign "Preserving Brasília for the 60th" - an initiative of the Institute of National Historic and Artistic Patrimony (Iphan), in partnership with several agencies of the Federal District Government (GDF) and support of the STF in the restoration and revitalization of the Three Powers Square.

During the ceremony, Chief Justice Dias Toffoli received a report prepared by Iphan/DF listing 21 spots of the Three Powers Square that need to be repaired. These are works that include the cleaning and restoration of monuments, washing and renovation of the square's Portuguese stone floor, among others. There will be the readjustment of spaces such as the Historical Museum of the City, the Lúcio Costa Space and the Pantheon of the Nation, in addition to the cleaning and restoration of the sculpture "The Justice", located in front of the Palace of the Judiciary, which houses the headquarters of the Supreme Court.
