Chief Justice of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) registers in Plenary the 60 years of Brasilia and of the headquarters of the STF in the capital city


At the opening of the plenary session of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court (STF) on Wednesday (22), the Chief Justice, Dias Toffoli, made a historical record of the 60th anniversary of the inauguration of Brasília and the transfer of the Brazilian Supreme Court's headquarters to the new federal capital. Through videoconference, he stressed that, even with its members physically distant due to the social distancing necessary to contain the Covid-19 pandemic, "the STF is fully and totally functioning, institutionally supporting Brazilian society.

Dias Toffoli recalled that the first session held at the Supreme Court building in Brasília was exactly on April 21, 1960, the date on which the long-standing desire to transfer the political-administrative axis from the coast to the center of the country came true.
