Agenda 2030: hotsite gathers data of the STF performance related to the UN sustainable development goals

The Supreme Court of Brazil (STF) launched this week a hotsite to publicize the Court's interaction with the United Nations (UN) Agenda 2030. The page presents events and studies conducted, in addition to indicative data on processes where there is correlation with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (GOALS) established at the UN General Assembly held in New York in September 2015. The page aims to show how the STF's jurisdictional action effectively contributes to the achievement of goals associated with the objectives of the agenda, such as the eradication of poverty, gender equality and reduction of inequalities.

Agenda 2030

The United Nations Agenda 2030 represents an action plan that promotes decent living and sets goals to eradicate social inequalities at the global level. In order to foster sustainable development, the consolidation of the Agenda's objectives requires the cooperation of actors from the State, civil society, private companies and academia itself.

According to the Chief Justice of the Court, Luiz Fux, at the Brazilian level, the achievement of this important international commitment requires the action of all Powers of the Republic. "In this sense, the STF is a central institution to spread the vision, culture and, especially, the so high values of Agenda 2030: life, dignity, justice and sustainability," he said.
