Solemn session for the tenure of Kassio Nunes Marques at the STF will be this Thursday (5), at 4:00 PM


In a strictly virtual ceremony, through videoconference, Judge Kassio Nunes Marques will take office as Justice of the Supreme Court of Brazil (STF). He will take the seat left by former Justice Celso de Mello who retired on October 13.

Nominated by the President of the Republic, Jair Bolsonaro, the Judge of the Federal Regional Court of the 1st Region (TRF1) had his name approved in the Constitution and Justice Commission of the Senate, on October 21, after more than ten hours of sesion.


Kassio Nunes Marques is natural of Teresina (PI), is 48 years old and joined the TRF1 in 2011, of which he was vice president between 2018 and 2020. He has also been a lawyer and judge at the Regional Electoral Court of Piauí (TRE-PI).

He graduated in Law from Universidade Federal do Piauí (UFPI) in 1994, with post-graduation in Legal Sciences from Faculdade Maranhense (MA). He took a course in Public Procurement at Universidad de La Coruña, Spain, and has a post-doctoral degree in Constitutional Law from the University of Messina, Italy (Universitá Degli Studi di Messina) and in Human Rights from the University of Salamanca, Spain (expedition of diploma in process). Nunes Marques also holds a Master's Degree in Law from the Autonomous University of Lisbon, Portugal.


The tenure ceremony will be broadcast live on TV Justiça, Radio Justiça and the official STF channel on YouTube.
