STF extends until March 31st its unique model of activity management

The president of the Supreme Court of Brazil (STF), Justice Luiz Fux, extended until March 31, 2021 the distinctive model of management of the Court's activities, instituted due to the need for social distancing and the reduction in the circulation of people in the Court imposed by the pandemic of the new coronavirus.

The measure allows the adoption of methods and tools that can be applied to work performed both in person and remotely, focusing on results. According to a survey conducted last October, the integrated management has been efficient in providing the deliveries of the STF units, with positive impacts on the Court's administration.

The extension of the distinguished model of activity management is stated in Resolution 714/2020, published in the Electronic Court Gazette this Friday (11). The model would end on January 31, as provided in Resolution 677/2020, edited in April by the former president of the Court, Justice Dias Toffoli. But considering the need to maintain the measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, the deadline was extended. The extension also allows the STF to overcome the indicative moment of a second wave or can promote the immunization of its staff and employees through external or internal vaccination campaigns.

Remote work

The remote work, which became a reality throughout the country due to the pandemic, has been STF's practice since 2016, when a pilot program was instituted. In 2018, this modality of work was regulated by Resolution 621 and, in March of that year, the STF already had over 180 servers working remotely. With the declaration of the pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO), the Court adopted a series of measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19, such as the expansion of remote work, which reached over 80% of the Court's workforce.
