Justice Ricardo Lewandowski, of the Supreme Court of Brazil (STF), determined that the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) inform, within 72 hours, if, in fact, the temporary authorization for emergency use of the vaccine Sputnik V, developed by Russia, has already been requested and, if so, clarify in which stage is the analysis and any pending issues to be fulfilled by the interested party. The Justice is rapporteur of the Direct Unconstitutionality Action (ADI) 6661, in which the State of Bahia requests the granting of an injunction to admit the importation and distribution of vaccine that has not yet been registered at Anvisa, provided there is registration by a regulatory agency certified by the Pan American Health Organization.
The government of Bahia argues that it has signed a term of cooperation with the Russian Fund for Direct Investment to acquire the vaccine Sputnik V, developed by the National Center for Research in Epidemiology and Microbiology Gamaleya, aiming at its distribution in the state.
