Justice maintains preventive custody of accused of killing Greek ambassador in Brazil


Justice Marco Aurélio, of the Supreme Court of Brazil (STF), denied an injunction in Habeas Corpus (HC) 195471, in which the defense of E. M. T. M., one of the accused of killing Kyriakos Amiridis, the Greek ambassador in Brazil, in 2016, asked for the revocation of his pre-trial detention. The justice's decision was taken at Habeas Corpus (HC) 195471.

The crime

According to the complaint, the ambassador's wife, together with the military police officer appointed as her lover, planned the death of her husband. On the night of 12/26/2016, the military officer and E. M., his nephew, committed acts of violence against Kyriakos Amiridis in his residence, in a condominium in Nova Iguaçu (RJ). With the death resulting from the numerous injuries that caused intense external bleeding, they put the body in the back seat of a car, set fire to the vehicle and pushed it from the Metropolitan Arch, expressway in the metropolitan area of Rio de Janeiro.
